Bohinj is a small tourist town located at the foot of the Massif Triglava, on Lake Bohinj. It is a popular center of active tourism, which is worth visiting at any time of the year.
The village and the lake are often referred to as calmer siblings of the much better known Bled. Bohinj is one of the largest Slovenian lakes, and its picturesque location surrounded by the Julian Alps, under the steeply sloping slopes of the Triglava Massif make it a great place to relax.
Several dozen kilometers of hiking trails of varying degrees of difficulty have been marked out around the village. Some lead by gentle, overgrown mountain hills above the village, others go deep into the rocky parts of the Julian Alps. In addition to walking routes, there are also bicycle routes, and the mountain rivers are great for organizing canoeing and rafting.
The surroundings of Bohinj are famous for beautiful views and excellent places for paragliding. In the winter, there are several ski and snowboard resorts here. Several dozen kilometers of cross-country skiing routes have been marked out in the valley where the lake is located.
