Duino Castle
Local name: Castello di Duino
Built in the ruins of a Roman fort, the 14th-century castle became an informal center of culture during the Enlightenment. They hosted, among others, Strauss, Liszt, d'Annunzio, Valery and Rilke, who devoted a volume of poetry "Duino elegies" to the castle. Visitors can see 18 rooms with valuable furnishings, including souvenirs from distinguished guests.
