Bled is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Slovenia. All thanks to the beautiful Alpine lake and the island with the church located on it. The town itself boasts charming streets and the oldest castle in Slovenia.
The name Bled is associated primarily with the lake, but on its shore there are about 5,000 town residents. The village is surrounded by the slopes of the Julian Alps, above which snowy peaks are visible almost all year round. It is a good base for exploring the Triglav National Park.
Bled was founded in the Middle Ages, and its oldest building was built in 1101, a castle standing on a rock above the lake waters. Today, there is a museum illustrating the history of the city and its surroundings, and from the walls you can admire the beautiful panorama of mountains and lakes.
Most tourists coming to Bled are attracted by a lake with numerous beaches and a small church standing on the island. It can be reached by excursion boats, the owners of which also offer scenic lake cruises.
Bled is a popular thermal spa. Hot springs located here are supplied with recreational and therapeutic pools in spa facilities. It is also a popular center of active tourism. In the area you can organize mountain and climbing trips, go canoeing, cycling or paragliding.
