Ciprian Porumbescu is a small village that takes its name from the name of a Romanian composer and musician. His home and a grave in the local cemetery are located here.

Until the middle of the 20th century, the town was called Stupca, but in honor of the composer, the authorities decided to change it. Ciprian Porumbescu was born Cyprian Gołębiowski, and his father had Polish roots. Although he lived less than 30 years, he went down in history as one of the most important Romanian composers, and the melody Pe-al nostru steag e scris Unire he wrote was used in the anthem of Albania.

During his short but very intense life, Porumbescu performed, among others in Vienna, Chernivtsi and Brasov. He also taught singing and music in Romanian schools and participated in political and social life by writing articles for newspapers.

The village of Ciprian Porumbescu is now primarily a living monument to the composer. The Ciprian Porumbescu Memorial House and the Ciprian Porumbescu Museum are located here. Many Romanians come here, and they also visit the local cemetery with a musician's grave.
