Baia Sprie is a small town situated in a mountain valley. Some historic buildings have been preserved in its center, and the surrounding area is perfect for active tourism.
The city was founded by Saxon settlers in the 14th century. It developed as a local trade and craft center. In the center, you can see a dozen or so historic tenement houses and houses characteristic of the Saxon architecture and the classicist Church of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary .
There are low, forested mountains around the Baia Sprie. They are perfect for backpacking trips. A popular excursion destination is the Blue Lake , a small pond with an intense blue color hidden among the forest. It is one of the main attractions of Baia Sprie. Nice landscapes can also be seen in the Crăpătura Zorilor nature reserve , and numerous trails also lead to the Mogoșa peak .
