Punta della Dogana is a Venetian contemporary art gallery located in Dogana da Mar, a building of the former customs office. You can admire the private collection of works of French millionaire, entrepreneur and collector François Pinault. He has in his collection about 2,500 works presented in two venues in Venice - Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana.
The Dogana da Mar, located at the very tip of the island, was built in the 15th century. Its present shape is largely a result of reconstruction from the 17th century. Thanks to it was created, among others. A tower decorated with a statue of Fortuny. However, the most important redevelopment took place in 2009. Francois Pinault commissioned the Japanese architect, Tadao Ando, to change the decadent palace into a modern exhibition space.
