Pietracamela is a small mountain village located at the foot of the Corno Grande massif in the Gran Sasso National Park in the Apennines. In summer, it is a good base for mountain hiking, and in winter, there is a small ski resort in its vicinity.

The location at the foot of the highest peak of the Apennines, Corno Grande, makes Pietracamela a good base for people who like mountain activities. There are several routes of varying difficulty to get to the top. However, all of them require good equipment and experience in walking in rocky terrain. The ridges around Corno Grande are much gentler, and the town can also be a great base for the nearby beautiful Campo Imperatore plateau, whose landscapes are sometimes called Little Tibet.

Above Pietracamela, there is a small ski resort called Prati di Tivo, which offers around 10 km of slopes in winter. In summer, you can take advantage of the Prati di Tivo Amusement Park, which has paths at heights and various routes that require you to perform tasks and demonstrate physical fitness.
