Mountain fortress located at an altitude of 1460 meters, which makes it the highest located in the Apennines. A stone-built castle for military purposes was never inhabited by the nobility. Construction of the fortress began in the tenth century. In November 1461, the building was severely damaged by an earthquake and never fully reconstructed.
