Palazzolo Acreide is a Sicilian town on the site of the former Greek colony of Acreide. It is known for the archaeological park and the ancient sanctuary with monumental sculptures of the goddess Cibele.

Currently, Palazzolo Acreide is a small town, with a center dominated by baroque buildings. It is the result of an earthquake in the 17th century that ruined earlier buildings and churches. A walk through the old town is pleasant and not too long, and there are also many places in the town where you can sit down for a coffee or a quick snack.

However, the biggest attraction of Palazzolo Acreide is its ancient monuments. There is a large archaeological site of Akrai, where you can see the remains of a Greek city from the 8th century BC. There are ruins of temples, theater, public buildings, as well as the later Roman forum and catacombs. Near the ancient monuments there is an ancient sanctuary from the turn of the 4th and 3rd century BC, in which statues of the goddess Cibele have been preserved.
