Massa Marittima is a Tuscan town known for its preserved historic buildings and massive walls that surround the New Town on a hill.

The heart of the oldest part of the city is Giuseppe Garibaldi Square. The main monument and attraction of Massa Marittima, the Cathedral of St. Cerbonius. The Romanesque temple, built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, has a beautiful painting Madonna delle Grazie, and in its vicinity there is a soaring belfry.

Around the cathedral is the Old Town with its narrow cobbled streets lined with stone houses. The structure is compact and uniform. The facades of historic churches, including the Church of St. Francis, the convent of Poor Clares or the Romanesque palace of Palazzo Comunale.

Above the oldest part of Massa Marittima is the so-called New Town. They are surrounded by imposing walls, which offer a beautiful view of the surrounding area.
