Piazza del Duomo

The main square of San Gimignano has been the center of the city's political and cultural life since the medieval times. Its most important buildings are the 11th century cathedral and the Palazzo Comunale, which was the seat of the municipal authorities in the past. At the square there is the tallest building in the Old Town, the Torre Grossa tower, from which you can admire the panorama of the city. In the past, trade routes crossed the square and markets and fairs were held here as well.
