Laveno-Mombello is a holiday village on Lake Maggiore. It has a nice, residential buildings, a marina from which you can go on a cruise to other towns on the lake, and the vicinity encourages active tourism.
Lake Maggiore is surrounded by forested mountain slopes. The most famous of them is the Sasso del Ferro mountain, which is one of the greatest attractions of Laveno-Mombello. You can get to its top by cable car. There is a panoramic terrace from which you can see the panorama of the entire area.
The town is concentrated at the lake shore. From ancient times, it was a place of rest for the aristocracy. The most important Italian families had their villas here at various times. Some of them have survived to this day. The development of mass tourism reached Laveno-Mombello at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. At that time, guesthouses were built, and over time, holiday apartments were added to them.
The town has a small beach, water and bicycle rentals, and companies that organize active trips. From the top of Sasso del Ferro you can paraglide and climb in several places in the area. The company Navigazione Lago Maggiore organizes regular and excursion cruises on the lake.
