The nature park covers the hilly area of Varese - the Ampo dei Fiori and Martica massifs and the Po Valley. The vegetation found here is surprisingly diverse. There are chestnut, beech and coniferous forests here, intertwined with wetlands and meadows with varieties of wild orchids.
There are numerous walking routes in the park. While hiking you can come across, among others for roe deer, badgers, deer, wild boar and birds of prey, including kites, honey buzzards, sparrow hawks and buzzards. Several species of bats and reptiles live here. Be careful as there are also poisonous vipers.
During the visit, it is worth visiting the local historical monuments. The most important of them is the Sacro Monte complex, entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List. There is also the majestic Grand Hotel Campo dei Fiori and the astronomical observatory built on Punta Paradiso, which is the largest facility of its kind in the country.
