Tübingen is one of the most important university cities in Germany. A university, graduated by many leading German scientists, has been operating here since the mid-15th century. The city survived the Second World War without major damage, so you can see the well-preserved Old Town here today.

The beginnings of Tübingen date back to the 11th century, when the princely seat was located here. Thanks to its favorable location, it became an important center of trade in the Middle Ages. However, the most important event in the history of the city was the founding of the University of Württemberg by prince Eberhard V in 1477. With time, it became one of the most important research centers of Lutheranism, and to this day it occupies a leading position among German universities.

The most important attractions of Tübingen include the very well-preserved Old Town with Rynke, the town hall building with the astronomical clock and the Neptune Fountain. There are restored houses from different eras around and the Renaissance Hohentübingen Castle is nearby. Its walls now house the University Museum, and it is surrounded by a park that is a frequent destination for walks.

An interesting place in Tübingen is the Museum of Ancient Cultures, where you can admire, among others Egyptian sarcophagi and murals, figurines and weapons from Mesopotamia, and ancient relics from Greece and Rome. An atmospheric place for walks is the Old Botanical Garden, which dates back to the first half of the 16th century. Currently, it functions as a public park
