The building designed by Carl Alexander Heideloff, the main architect of Nuremberg, was described as a "fairytale castle". His creation inspired the historical romance "Liechtenstein" by Wilhelm Hauff. The neo-Gothic castle remains to this day the private property of the Urach princely family, open to the public.
