Münster is a city full of monuments and interesting museums with over a thousand years of history. It is known as the place of signing the Peace of Westphalia ending the Thirty Years War, which is one of the most important documents in the history of the world.

In 793, Charlemagne founded a monastery and a monastery settlement in the place of today's city. Due to its convenient location on trade routes, it began to develop very quickly and received city rights in the 12th century. The greatest period of the city's splendor was from the 13th to the 18th centuries, in 1648 the Peace of Westphalia was signed here, which was the basis of the new order in Europe.

The most important monument of the city is the Romanesque-Gothic cathedral of St. Paul. It was built in the 13th century on the site of the first Baptistery in Münster. It is a valuable monument of medieval art, with numerous sculptures, a richly decorated Paradise Portal and a 16th century astronomical clock.

An important place on the city map is the Historical Town Hall. There is a Peace Room in which the Westphalian Room was signed. Around the market square there are middle-class tenement houses with decorated facades, and within the Old Town you can see a few more valuable churches, such as the church of St. Lambert, church of the Mother of God, church of St. Idzi, church of St. Servatius.

Münster also has many interesting museums to offer. The largest of them is the LWL Museum of Natural History with a Planetarium, which covers all issues related to natural sciences from space and the creation of the world to fauna and flora. You can also visit the Pablo Picasso Art Museum, City Museum, Westphalian Horse Museum, Mühlenhof Open-Air Museum, Carnival Museum, Archaeological Museum, Bible Museum and many more.

A popular attraction is the Zoo in Münster, which lives around 4,000 animals from around the world. The Botanical Garden is a good place for walks and rest from the city noise.
