Ludwigsburg is a city which owes its fame above all to the palace of Eberhard Ludwik Wirtemberski erected in the 18th century. It is the largest baroque palace in Germany, all the more valuable because it survived World War II with virtually no damage.

The ruling Prince of Württemberg at the turn of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, Eberhard Ludwik after visiting Versailles at Louis XIV decided to build a residence that could compare with the French original. After 15 years of construction, the Ludwigsburg Palace and the surrounding Baroque Gardens in Ludwigsburg have become one of the most important and impressive residences in Germany.

Currently, the palace houses the Porcelain Museum and Fashion Museum, and the Baroque Gallery. In addition, a castle chapel and numerous chambers furnished in baroque, rococo and empire style were made available. The palace park is divided into several thematic sections, and in its eastern part there is a Fairytale Garden for children. You can see in it, among others House of Witches or ride a children's train.

Ludwigsburg also has a much smaller Favorite Park with the late Baroque Favorite Castle. In turn, on the outskirts of the city rise the Ruins of Hoheneck Castle. In the city, you can also visit the Karlskaserne Arts Center, Prison Museum, Garrison Museum and Emich's Castle.
