The courtyard of the palace of Charles III Wilhelm (now the seat of the Badisches Landesmuseum), was part of the concept of a baroque ideal city. Along the main axis of the square there are sculptures of Ignaz Friedrich Lengelacher depicting mythological gods and heroes. At the entrance to the square in 1844, a bronze statue of Charles III William was erected.
