Villeneuve-d'Ascq is a city belonging to the agglomeration of Lille. It is primarily an industrial and technological center, but is also home to one of the most important French museums of contemporary art, Lam.

The city was established in 1970 as part of the Lille-Est area. It was created as a housing base and an industrial center in the suburbs of this city. It is located in close proximity to the Belgian border and both French and Belgian Flemish live here.

The center is primarily a collection of numerous housing estates, between which there are large green and recreational areas. It was conceived as a so-called "new city", which combines the features of a large housing estate and a place to rest.

In the Villeneuve-d'Ascq area is one of the greatest attractions of the Lille area, the Lam Art Museum. It presents collections of French and foreign art of the 20th and 21st centuries. The exhibitions cover both the interior of the building and the adjacent garden.

In Villeneuve-d'Ascq, you can also visit the Asnapio Archaeological Reconstruction Park, where you can see the reconstructed settlements of the inhabitants of these areas from prehistory to the early Middle Ages.
