Cassis is a small, picturesque resort on the Cote d'Azur. The coast around it is famous not only for its beautiful beaches, but also for its bays (calanques) also known as the fjords of southern Europe.
In Cassis there is no traditional Old Town that can be found in many towns of the Cote d'Azur. The oldest part of the building is located on the rock above the port and is currently unavailable to the average tourist. From below you can see the villas and the castle, which is in private hands and transformed into a hotel. The whole creates a closed district with access only for residents.
The town's life is centered around the port. In the past, it was first and foremost a fishing harbor, today you can take a boat trip from here. This is one of the most popular attractions of this part of the coast. Picturesque bays deeply cut into the land resemble Scandinavian fjords.
In the center of Cassis there are well-developed beaches such as Grande Mer Beach, frequented by holidaymakers. However, many people are looking for more secluded places in coves. The most beautiful here is Cassis Les Calanques Beach covered with light, small pebbles, which, together with the blue water, create an unforgettable setting for relaxation.
