Bandol is a famous resort on the Mediterranean Sea and a recognized center for the production of Provencal wines. There are many beautiful, well-prepared sandy and pebble beaches, and to the north of the city, numerous vineyards open their doors to tourists and invite you to tasting.
The town developed as a resort since the beginning of the 20th century. It has a nice Mediterranean architecture, numerous villas hidden in gardens and a large fishing and tourist port. Its pride is the Bendor island, a few minutes' ferry ride from the port. In 1950, it was bought by French entrepreneur Paul Ricard. Currently, it is open to the public and is one of the attractions of Bandol. There is a promenade, numerous restaurants and bars, and the Wine Museum.
Wine is what distinguishes Bandol from other towns on the Cote d'Azur. Its surroundings form a wine region with its own appellation and over 200 vineyards. Several dozen of them are open to the public and conduct tastings for tourists.
The beaches, Bandol's biggest attraction, are mostly sandy. The most famous are Grand Vallat, Casino, Central beach and Re. They are well prepared, with the possibility of renting water equipment. Various water sports are available in the waters near the city, there is also a diving center and cruises on the sea.
