Silkeborg is a town that was founded in the 19th century after the construction of a paper factory. Nowadays, it houses the Museum of Papermaking, as well as a large Aquarium, where you can watch fish from all over the world.

The history of the city began relatively recently, in the first half of the 19th century, when Michael Drewsen established his paper factory here. Although it was closed in the 20th century, the machine and textile industry developed in its place. The Paper Museum reminds us of the old traditions of making paper.

Other museums of interest to Silkeborg include the Jorn Museum, the Silkeborg Bad Art Center, the Silkeborg City Museum, and the Silkeborg Bunker Museum. The latter is located in post-German shelters from World War II.

One of the most visited places in Silkeborg is the Aqua Aquarium and Zoo. In huge pools you can watch fish and other marine animals living in different climates.
