Padborg is a city on the Danish-German border. Before the creation of the European Union, there was a large border crossing here, and even today the city is an important transit and cross-border trade center.

The development of Padborg only began in the first half of the 20th century. Previously, there was a village here consisting of several dozen buildings. It was not until the German-Danish border was established after the plebiscite in 1920 that the city began to develop.

In 1944, in Padborg, the Germans established the Frøslev POW Camp, in which members of the Danish resistance were held. It is currently the best preserved POW camp in Western Europe. It houses the Frøslev Camp Museum, the United Nations Museum, the National Guard Museum and Brigade Collections, and the Amnesty International Exhibition.

Padborg's attractions also include the Oldemorstoft Museum, set in a 19th-century thatched mansion. There is a historical and ethnographic collection of these areas.
