Højbjerg is a town in the former Aarhus suburb. It includes the Marselisborg Forest with a deer park and a museum belonging to the University of Aarhus.
The city occupies the coastal area south of Aarhus. There are sandy beaches, partly developed in the season. The most famous of them are Ballehage Beach and Moesgård Beach. Aarhus residents like to spend their weekends here - relaxing by the water in the summer, and strolling at other times of the year.
Højbjerg's biggest attraction is the Moesgård Museum. In a modern building integrated into the surrounding area, collections in the field of archeology and ethnography are presented, including to Aarhus University. In addition to a modern exhibition building, the museum includes the Moesgård residence, remains of Stone Age tombs, a prehistoric trail with preserved fragments of stone circles and reconstructions of Iron Age houses, reconstruction of Viking-era houses and a replica of a traditional Scandinavian wooden church - stav kirche.
There is also a forest in Højbjerg with the Marselisborg Deer Park. Red deer and roe deer live here in free ranges and can be found walking along the paths. Only wild boars have their pens, which can turn out to be dangerous to humans.
