Fanø is an island in the North Sea known for its sandy beaches. It is one of Denmark's favorite summer vacation destinations, and the island also has several interesting museums and plenty of leisure time activities.

The three towns of Nordby, Rindby and Sønderho are located on the island. They have nice, partly historic buildings, and some houses are built of half-timbered walls. One of the nicer building complexes can be seen at the Nordby marina.

Fanø's main attraction is the long sandy beaches such as Fanoe Bad Beach. In high season, recreational and leisure equipment can be rented there. There are also several windsurfing schools here, and surfers find here excellent conditions for this sport due to strong winds and big waves. There are also many cycling and walking paths and a golf course on the island.

One of the most famous buildings on the island is the wooden Sønderho Windmill. Fans of history and military can visit the fortifications from the Second World War, the Fanø Nord Flak Battery. An interesting place is Sønderho Gamle Fuglekøje, located above a small aviary, which was built in the 19th century. You can watch water and marsh birds from specially prepared observation posts.

The relatively small island also has some interesting museums such as the Costume and Ship Model Museum, Fanø Art Museum, Fanø Museum, Hanne House and Fanø Dogbog.
