The World War II fortifications on the beach have been transformed into an art installation. By attaching steel heads and tails to each of the four bunkers, they were transformed into mule silhouettes. The project is the result of collaboration between Danish artist Elli-Mia Ejdrup Hansen and British sculptor Bill Woodrow.
The choice of animals into which military fortifications were converted was not accidental in this project. The mules are sterile, which is supposed to symbolize the end of the war and not passing the threat of conflict to the next generation.
