Sankt Johann im Pongau is a town at the foot of the Salzburg Alps and a famous ski resort. It belongs to the Salzburger Sportwelt ski region, which has several hundred kilometers of pistes.
The town is picturesquely situated at the junction of three alpine valleys. In its immediate vicinity there is the Snow Space Alpendorf ski station, which is part of the Salzburger Sportwelt. Only in its vicinity, skiers can use over 100 km of ski slopes of various difficulty levels and 33 km of cross-country ski runs. The resort includes the Snowpark Alpendorf and several dozen cable cars and lifts, including the Buchau Gipfel cable car.
Part of the large ski resort of Sankt Johann im Pongau, it offers visitors many attractions and various forms of spending time. There are restaurants, bars and clubs, an ice rink, playrooms for children, a fitness center. Sleigh rides, snowshoe tours and snowmobile tours are organized.
The surroundings of Sankt Johann im Pongau are full of landscape attractions. Visiting them, during hiking and biking tours, is the best way to spend time in the warm months. A frequent destination for tourists is the four-kilometer long Liechtenstein Gorge, where a path is led on footbridges and platforms attached to the rocks. There is a waterfall at the end of the gorge.
