Bregenz is a small city located on Lake Constance, in the vicinity of the borders with Germany and Switzerland. It is a tourist center with a small Old Town, promenade and a place where many mountain hiking trails start.
Bregenz is surrounded by a mountainous land called the Bregenz Forest. It is characterized by gentle, forested hills and picturesque, traditional villages in which cattle are bred. The destination is also the picturesque Rappenloch Gorge carved in the rocks by the Dornbirner Ache River. Above the city rises the Pfänder peak, 1064 m above sea level, which can be reached both by hiking trails and by cable car. There are beautiful views of the entire area.
The most important attraction of the city, however, is Lake Constance. There is a small port on the water, from which cruise ships depart as well as private boats and sailboats. In the summer, the Bregenzer Festspiele art festival takes place here, which concerts and performances take place on the stage floating on the lake.
