Bishops Park
Bishop's Park is located in Fulham, in the west of London. The park stretches along the banks of the River Thames, from All Saints Church to Bishop's Park Road. There are tennis courts, table tennis and bowls for playing bowls. A beach was created in the park by the river bank. An agricultural marketplace is also held here. Bishop's Park appeared, among others, in the famous horror film "Omen" from 1976.
The park was officially created in 1893 in areas handed over to the city by the assembly of Ecclesiastical Commissioners. They were mainly riverside meadows. To prevent the river from spilling over it, banks were built along the waterfront. In 1953, four sculptures by James Wedgwood appeared in the park, commemorating the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. They were titled Adoration, Protection, Grief and Leda. Ten years later they were joined by the fifth Affection sculpture by Joseph Hermon Cawthra.
