Saas-Grund is a year-round resort in the Alps. In winter, it offers access to numerous ski slopes, and in summer, great hiking and biking trails.
The town is situated in a valley surrounded by a dozen alpine four-thousanders. Swiss pines, which are the highest growing trees in the country, grow in the local forests. Rocky peaks rise above the forests to which hiking, climbing and via ferrata routes lead.
Cycle routes run through the valleys at the foot and on the lower slopes, including the magnificent loop of 18 four-thousanders of the Saas Valley. A large part of the routes is located in the lower parts of the valley and does not present any major technical difficulties.
Lake Kreuzboden is a popular excursion destination from Saas-Grund. Its surroundings offer fabulous views of the valley, and there is also a spa and wellness center next to it.
In winter, near Saas-Grund, there is a ski resort with several dozen kilometers of slopes and a snow park. It is served by ski lifts and cable cars, including the Hohsaas Cable Car, and the highlight is the 11 km long natural toboggan run.
