Felanitx is a city in Mallorca and the island's main pilgrimage center. There is the Sanctuary of Sant Salvador standing on the hill of Serra de Llevant.
The Sanctuary of Sant Salvador is a destination not only for believers, but also for those looking for beautiful views and interesting walking routes. The Statue of Christ the Savior, visible from a distance, towers over the hill. There are viewing terraces around the buildings of the sanctuary, where you can relax while enjoying the view of the coast and the sea. The place where all visitors to the sanctuary go is the Cross of the Holy Savior standing on the rock.
Although the town is not located on the coast itself, it has access to wild and quite secluded beaches in this part of the island. It is a good choice for people who do not like crowds and prefer to relax in a cozy atmosphere. Especially beautiful is the beach of Cala Mitjana lying in a deep bay, which is best accessed from the sea. The Poro Colom Lighthouse on the peninsula is a nice place for excursions.
The surroundings of Felanitx are diverse in terms of landscape. Above the plain there is a range of hills reaching just over 500 m above sea level. One of them stands the Santueri Castle, a 14th century fortress built on the ruins of an Arab fortress. Formerly it was used to defend the coast, today it is a destination and a good viewpoint.
