Ferrocarril de Sóller is a nineteenth-century electric narrow-gauge railway that connects the cities of Palma de Mallorca and Soller. The unique means of transport is owned by a private company and has been operating continuously for over 100 years. A ride on the historic cable car is an extraordinary attraction in itself, and also allows you to admire the fantastic landscapes of Majorca.
The budget for the construction of tracks and their service was obtained from the trade of oranges and lemons, which flourished considerably at the beginning of the 20th century. For this reason, Ferrocarril de Sóller is often also called Orange Express.
The length of the railway line is less than 30 km. The route runs from the island's capital to the north through delightful plains, thirteen tunnels in the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, to the phenomenal Orange Valley.
