Escorca is a commune covering the northern part of Majorca. It is home to the highest peak of the island, Puig Major, as well as two artificial lakes and wild beaches hidden in coves.
The main attraction of Escorca are its landscapes and small beaches hidden among the rocks. The most famous of them is Sa Calobra, located between the huge rock walls at the mouth of the gorge. The easiest way to get there is by ferry or boat. Cala Tuent is also a beautiful place, a bay surrounded by hills with a wild beach.
Due to the relatively large amount of rainfall in this area, two dam reservoirs have been built here, which supply water, among others, the capital of Majorca, Palma. In addition to being water reservoirs, Lake Embassament de Cúber and Gorg Blau are also beautiful scenic spots in this area. They can also be admired from viewpoints on the road.
The mountainous, rugged landscapes of Escorca invite to hiking tours. One of their destinations is Majorca's highest peak, Puig Major at 1,445 meters above sea level. However, it must be remembered that in summer it is a hike in full sun and there are no places to take water on the route.
