Coca is a small town known primarily for its one of the most magnificent castles in Spain. Built at the end of the 15th century, the stronghold is a great example of the Mudejar style combining elements of Western and Arabic art.
Coca Castle was built in the second half of the 15th century. It was built of bricks of various textures, and the geometrically decorated walls look like taken out of a fairy tale. You could say that this fortress is a perfect idea of what a castle should look like.
The city of Coca itself is fortified. The ogival town gate and fragments of walls have been preserved. Inside there is the oldest part of the village. Here stands, among others Church of Santa Maria la Mayor. Apart from the buildings, on the river bank there is a lonely tower, Torre Mudejar San Nicolás, which is a remnant of a former church.
