Achadas da Cruz is a tiny village in Madeira lying on a slope towards the ocean. There are narrow beaches at its feet, and the buildings are terraced on a sloping ground.
The small village is dominated by traditional buildings. Its central place is the church, and there are small arable fields around it. Some of them are located in the higher parts of the slope and to facilitate access to them, the Achadas da Cruz cable car was built. Currently, it also serves tourists and is one of the most important attractions in the Achadas da Cruz area.
At the foot of the slope there is a small beach and the Calhau das Achadas Promenade. Higher up you can go on a trip on the gravel path or one of the several hiking trails. They run, among others to the vantage point 194, from where you can enjoy amazing views of the coast and mountains.
