The Ponta do Pargo lighthouse is located on the westernmost tip of Madeira. It is the highest situated building of this type on the island. The facility was recognized as the cultural heritage of the region. Inside the delightful building is a small museum. The Ponta do Pargo lighthouse exists since 1922. The fourteen-meter building is located on a cliff over 350 meters above sea level and is used to this day for navigation purposes.
The name Ponta de Pargo comes from sea bream caught in this area.
