Supreme Court building

Local name: Budynek Sądu Najwyższego

The Supreme Court Building in Warsaw is a project of the Polish architect and urban planner Marek Budzyński. It was built in the late 90's. The glass design stands out against the backdrop of Muranow architecture. The building surrounds 67 "Columns of Truth", where 86 legal texts were written in Polish and Latin.

Column heads are decorated with the most important attribute of Temidy - the weight, in the vicinity of the Warsaw Insurgents Monument, the weight replaced the Polish Fighting Mark. At the rear exit were placed three caryatids, which symbolize faith, hope and love.

The initial project was to place the caryatid from the front, but the field bishop protested against it. At the Krasińskich Square stands the building of the Field Cathedral of the Polish Army, the bishop decided that the statues depicting scantily dressed women will not be used in this place.

The legal parallels were prepared by a group of romanists led by Professor Witold Wołodkiewicz from the University of Warsaw. These are, among others. quotes from Roman law.
