St. Anne's Church in Warsaw is one of the oldest churches in the city. It serves as the university church since 1928 because of its location near the four schools: the University of Warsaw, Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, and the Academy of Dramatic Art. It's also known as the Main Center of Academic Pastoral Ministry.
The church was built near the Bernardine monastery. The construction started in 1454. The church was rebuilt many times thanks to which it combines different architectonic styles. The parts which stand out the most are the Gothic presbytery, Baroque interior, classicist facade, and the Neo-Renaissance belfry.St. Anne's Church survived the war with slight damage. Because of that, the main altar from 1728 with the 17th-century painting of Saint Anne, the pulpit from 1750, confessionals with intarsias from 1753, and few monumental side altars can be admired today.Less
