Field Cathedral of the Polish Army

Local name: Katedra Polowa Wojska Polskiego

In the Field Cathedral there are many valuable monuments. It is worth paying attention to the bronze doors of the project of Andrzej Renes, on which are placed the most important battle scenes from the history of Poland, the figure of Our Lady Queen of Poland that survived the war and the uprising, as well as organs from the second half of the nineteenth century. The interior of the church is decorated with paintings by Michael Willmann.

The church also has two interesting chapels. The Katyń Chapel was built to commemorate the martyrdom of prisoners of war murdered by the NKVD in 1940. On the altar there is an image of the Mother of God of Katyń, and on the walls there are 15 thousand tablets with the names of the victims. On the other side is the Chapel of Our Lady of Ostra Brama. It is worth seeing here the ceramic reliefs made by Lech and Piotr Grześkiewicz.
