Monumental Basilica of the Holy Cross is not only a great example of architecture, but also the resting place of many famous and meritorious Poles.
Although today the church of the Holy Cross is very impressive, at the beginning it functioned as a much smaller temple - in this place in the sixteenth century there was a chapel. Nowadays, the Baroque basilica erected at Krakowskie Przedmieście is as impressive from the outside as it is inside. After crossing the threshold of the church, tourists can see beautiful altars, epitaphs in honor of the deceased and tasteful decorations. In the walls of this Warsaw basilica lies the ashes of missionaries (Lambert aux Couteaux, Bartłomiej Tarło, Gabriel Baudouin), Stanisław Małachowski, Adam Kazimierz Czartoryski, as well as the hearts of Fryderyk Chopin and Władysław Reymont.Less
