Holy Mountain of Grabarka
Local name: Święta Góra Grabarka
Grabarka is a place of worship Orthodox faithful. At the top of the mountain is the main Orthodox Church of the Transfiguration, as well as two smaller churches of the 1950s and 1988 years. The largest church is surrounded by thousands of crosses brought by the faithful. The heart of this place is Iwierska Icon of the Mother of God. At the foot of the mountain you can see the miraculous spring, which according to the belief has the power of healing. Grabarka history dates back to 1710 in which Podlasie raging cholera epidemic. Local people trusting their faith to the top of zanosili crosses praying for the end of the epidemic and bathe the body of the miraculous spring. Because their prayers were answered in gratitude to God founded the chapel, which over the years expanded into a church. Rich building burnt down in 1990 as a result of arson. The present church consecrated in 1998, is built and remains under the care of a female Orthodox monastery of St. Martha and Mary, existing on the Holy Mount of 1947. Great copy of the original icons stored on the Mount Athos is in it since 2000 and is a reminder of 2,000 years of Christianity.
