The Tenement House Museum in Opole is a place which presents the world from the first half of the 20th century. A visit in the original tenement house from the end of the 19th century gives an opportunity to admire the look of six recreated apartments from the period between 1890 and 1965.
The tenement house was built in 1890 by the Nowak Family who ran a bakery. There were six two-izba apartments for rent. In the beginning, it was rented by wealthy townsmen. However, with time, the prestige of the place started to fall while the neglected building fell into ruin. Thanks to this, its original sanitary, heating and architectonic solutions preserved to this day.The rooms were recreated after the building passed to the museum. They present various trends and conditions of the then times. The oldest is the townsman apartment from the turn of the 20th century while the newest was equipped with devices from between 1945 and 1965. There are also furniture, kitchen and bathroom equipment, trinkets, and items used by staff.Less
