The most interesting monuments of the Opole region include the Franciscan church and monastery complex, built hundreds of years ago in Opole. Tourists and visitors to the complex dating back to the 13th century can see amazing old chapels, as well as the tombs of the founders of the visited buildings, including the Opole dukes and the families of Polish rulers.
The Franciscan Monastery in Opole is one of the monasteries of the Province of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The building of the Franciscan monastic house has been presented with a mix of architectural styles: Gothic, Mannerism and Baroque. It was built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, but was repeatedly rebuilt as a result of numerous fires and other devastation.
At the Franciscan monastery there is a Holy Trinity church. Its construction was undertaken - as in the case of the monastery - first in XIII, later in the fourteenth century. Like the monastery, the church was also destroyed and rebuilt many times. Its body combines elements of early Gothic, late Renaissance and Baroque. In the interior of the temple there are plenty of interesting items, such as the eighteenth-century choir or statues of David, Queen of Sheba and playing angels.
