Opole Main Station

Local name: Opole Główne

Opole Main Station is the largest railway station in Opole and Opole Silesia. It was built at the turn of the 20th century. It combines features of neo-Gothic, neo-Renaissance, and art nouveau. Because of the great acoustics of the main hall, conversations held at one end are heard in the entire room.

The history of Opole Main Station is related to the construction of the railway network in the second half of the 19th century. It was then when the impressive eclectic building was built. It is made of red brick and combines architectonic features from different times. What brings attention most is the large, glazed entrance surrounded by a portal.

What is interesting, the platforms are situated on an arc. The renovation carried out at the beginning of the 21st century brought back its art nouveau features. Its acoustic properties are still intact and allow hearing even whispers.
