Gallery of the Museum of Opole Silesia

Local name: Galeria Muzeum Śląska Opolskiego

Galeria Opole Silesian Museum is housed in a nineteenth-century inn. Here is the largest collection of John Cybis works in Poland. In addition, the section devoted to Polish painting from the 19th and 20th centuries can be admired in the main building of the Museum. There are works by Jan Matejko, Jerzy Nowosielski or Stanisław Wyspiański.

At the end of the 20th century, Cyborg's largest collection of works in Poland was moved from Opole to Opole. Under the exposition, a former tavern was erected on Ozimska Street. Born in Głogówek, Cybis is one of the most important contemporary artists associated with Opole. After his death, the Museum of Silesian Opole took care of the purchase of his work from family and collectors. At present there are 90 paintings and about 850 works on paper, as well as personal belongings of the painter and souvenirs after him.

The Polish Gallery of Polish Painting, located in the main building, shows in chronological order the works of the most important Polish artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. There are paintings by Wojciech Kossak, Olga Boznańska, Józef Chełmoński, Jacek Malczewski, Witkacy and Konrad Krzyzanowski.
