European bison farm

Local name: Zagroda żubrów

Bieszczady farm allows observing bison in their natural environment. Thanks to the roofed viewing platforms, you can enjoy the animals regardless of the weather conditions. There are also overview boards with descriptions and photos.

The facility was built in the Krutyjówka forest cut through the Red Stream. It has an area of about 9 ha. The purpose of the farm is environmental education, animal protection as well as enriching the genetic pool of the Bison population in Bieszczady. The animals from the farm will enable the reconstruction of the historic herd from the Upper San Valley.

The beginnings of bison breeding in Bieszczady date back to 1963, when an acclimatization pen was created in the Stuposiany Forest District. Bringing bison to Bieszczady commemorates the obelisk unveiled in Pszczelinach. The facility in Muczne was established in 2012 as part of a bison protection project co-financed by the European Union and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. Animals come from various European countries.

Since 2013, the "Żubr Trail" ski run has been taking place in the area.
