Bieszczady National Park protects valuable animal and plant species and the unique landscape of the East Carpathian Mountains. Its hallmark is high-mountain meadows - polonynas. The logo of the biggest mountain national park is Eurasian lynx. Thanks to the park's contribution to a nature protection and its natural values, it received a certificate from the European PAN Parks Foundation and the European Diploma. Tourists can use the natural-historical tracks, and walking tracks leading to the highest peak - Tarnica (1346m). The park promotes a horse riding tourism.
Established in 1973, the park consists of the largest natural beech forests in Europe and Bieszczady's oddities - raised bogs and "the land of valleys" in the place of former villages. The park is a part of the East Carpathian Biosphere Reserve founded by UNESCO. The Scientific and Didactic Center in Ustrzyki Dolne and the Informational- and Didactic Center in Lutowsiska are responsible for didactic activities.Bieszczady Forest Railway can be found near the park.Less
