Połonina Caryńska
Local name: Połonina Caryńska
Located within the Bieszczady National Park, polonyna has four peaks, the highest of which, Kruhły Wierch, has a height of 1297 m above sea level. Through the less than 5 km long ridge of mountain, the Main Beskidy Trail marked in red and the "Buk" nature trail lead. The hike offers unforgettable panoramas of Rawki, the Tarnica group, and the nearby Połonina Wetlinska. Green trail also runs through the part of the massif, connecting polonyna with the Wyżniańska pass and Przysłup Caryński.
The Połonina took its name from the old village of Caryńskie located at its northern slopes. Today an interesting nature trail leads through this picturesque terrain. One can also visit an old cemetery located on the red trail, which is what's left of the former settlement of Berehy Górne. The village of Ustrzyki Górne lies right at the foot of polonyna and it's a convenient accommodation and catering base."Caryna" is a word of Walachian origin from the old local dialect and means a pasture.Less
