Łańcut Castle

Local name: Zamek w Łańcucie

Entered in the List of Historic Monuments, the castle and park complex in Łańcut consists of 18 buildings and a large park. The very center of this impressive object is the four-wing and two-floor building of the castle with the courtyard and towers in the corners. The most representative part of the complex was made available for visits. It contains original palace interiors from the period between 18th to 20th centuries such as Zodiac Hall, Chinese Apartment and the bedroom of Marshal Princess. Paintings, sculptures, stylish furniture, militaries and the collection of silver, glasses, porcelain and the rich library can be admired here. The castle also organizes concerts as a part of the Music Festival in Łańcut.

The defensive mansion of the Pilecki and Stadnicki Families was located here in the 16th century. Stanisław Lubomirski built a residential and defensive construction in the 17th century. The raw stronghold was rebuilt into a palace residence surrounded by a park at the turn of the 19th century on the initiative of Izabela Lubomirska. The next modernization was carried out by Roman Potocki. The castle luckily survived the war and in 1945 was opened for visits as a museum.

It is said that the castle is haunted by the ghosts of two miserable women - Izabela Lubomirska and her daughter Julia. Stanisław Stadnicki known as "Devil of Łańcut" also is to be found around the place.
