Tetovo is one of the largest cities in North Macedonia and the main center of the Albanian population in the country. There is no shortage of Muslim monuments in the city, headed by a magnificent colorful mosque, and on its outskirts there is the mountain resort of Popova Sapka.

The settlement in the place of today's Tetowo developed in the 14th century. After the Turkish invasion and the incorporation of Macedonia into the Ottoman Empire, it quickly grew into an important trade and craft center. At that time, numerous mosques, baths and a bazaar were built. Today, one of the most important attractions of Tetovo is the Colorful Mosque with walls decorated with geometric and floral paintings. Right next to it is the nineteenth-century Arabati Baba Tekke, a monastery of the Muslim sect of Bektashites, who gained great popularity in the Balkans in Turkish times. Other sights that can be visited in Tetov include the Eski mosque, the cathedral of Saints Cyril and Methodius and the Church of the Virgin Mary. The center of the city's life is the city square with a square and buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries.

A big attraction of Tetowo and its surroundings are the nearby mountains of Shar Planina. There is the Popova Sapka ski resort, which has been developing more and more since the beginning of the 21st century. In winter, there are downhill runs within it. There are also year-round hotels here, and a lot of hiking trails in the area.
